23 Aug A Review: Fade Away Sleep Sounds
When my son was an infant I remember reading a research study that found that running a bedroom fan had been shown to decrease the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). At that point I decided that we would run a fan in his nursery and we started doing this the day he made the move from the bassinet in our room to his crib. My husband and I always turned the fan on when we put him down for a nap or for bed in the evening. What started out as a way to do whatever I could to reduce the risk of SIDS also turned into a great way to provide background white noise while he slept. The constant hum of the fan became something he recognized and he began associating the fan with sleep. The sound of the fan worked so well that I kept it running after he was past the age of being at risk for SIDS. Crazy at it may sound, the fan was even turned on during the cold Minnesota winter in order to keep his sleep routine consistent. Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of background noise!
Fade Away Sleep Sounds
Earlier this summer I was introduced to Fade Away Sleep Sounds when the owner of the company approached me and asked if I’d be interested in trying out the product in order to provide my feedback. Since I’ve used background noise for both of my kids, I was happy to jump on board to work with Fade Away Sleep Sounds! This is a company that was started by a dad who spent countless hours running a hair dryer or water in the bathtub to soothe his little ones to sleep. He soon realized that his kids were able to fall asleep easier with various background sounds and it made perfect sense to develop sounds that mimic nature, household items, and white noise.
These sounds are available on the Fade Away Sleep Sounds website and can be downloaded to your preferred listening device, such as an iPad or iPhone. If you have an extra iPod sitting around that you’re not using you can download to this and listen via speakers. At this time they are exclusively selling via digital download since CDs seem to be a thing of the past. You can also listen to the sounds via online streaming sites such as Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify, and Amazon Music, which may be a good option to consider if you want to try out the sounds before downloading. You have the option of purchasing one sound at a time for $2.99, or if you’re interested, you can opt to purchase a Bundle Package that contains three different sounds for $5.99.
You may be wondering what sets Fade Away Sleep Sounds apart from other noise machines. First, the sounds are designed to slowly fade away at the end of each track, which runs for 60 minutes. This is arguably the thing that sets Fade Away Sleep Sounds apart from other noisemaking devices. Instead of having the track abruptly end, the sound subtly fades away and baby continues sleeping soundly.
Second, you are able to choose the sounds that you think help your baby the most when trying to go to sleep. Each baby is unique and you are not bound to a sound that may or may not be useful. This company has a number of sound categories to choose from, which includes Baby Sleep Sounds, Nature Sounds, and Life Sounds. While this company was started with babies in mind, there are sounds that adults will also enjoy!

One day about a month ago my daughter was sitting in her reclining bouncer while I was blow-drying my hair. After just a few minutes of listening to the hum of the hair dryer she was sound asleep. I noticed over the course of a few days that she quickly fell asleep when the hair dryer was on and it dawned on me that this was a sound that soothed her to sleep. While it worked to have her fall asleep in the bathroom each morning while I got ready it’s just not practical to think I’d sit in her nursery with a hair dryer to help her get to sleep at naptime. I immediately downloaded the hair dryer sound from Fade Away Sleep Sounds and placed my iPad mini in the nursery. It has worked like a charm! One afternoon my daughter was having a particularly difficult time falling asleep for her nap. I turned on the hair dryer sound and she went from crying to making very little noise in just a few minutes. Pretty soon I saw on the baby monitor that she was sound asleep. That’s when I realized that this product could be extremely beneficial for my kids.
My son has had a fan running in his entire room every night his entire life and he does really well with that specific background noise. I have no doubt that the Fade Away Sleep Sounds electric fan sound will work well, I just haven’t been able to use it because the heat we’ve been having this summer actually makes it necessary for a real fan to be used in his room. Once it cools down I’m excited to use the fan sound so that his room can stay warm and cozy while the familiar sound lulls him to sleep each night.
In my opinion, one of the best aspects of Fade Away Sleep Sounds is that the sounds can be downloaded to any device, thus they can be taken anywhere that we go. My family travels quite a bit and I’ll never forget the first time that we were staying in a hotel and realized that we didn’t have a fan for background noise for our son. We scrambled to find a fan sound in an app, but it really wasn’t very good. Being able to take the different sounds with us is a huge advantage and definitely reduces the stress of bedtime while on vacation!
I should mention that if you have a mamaRoo you can use the Bluetooth feature on the seat to play a desired sound for your baby. While I realize that the mamaRoo has four built in sounds, it’s nice to know that you can use your baby’s preferred sound if that makes it easier for them to go to sleep.
Lately I’ve been streaming some of the nature sounds just for fun and they are super relaxing! What mama doesn’t need a few minutes during the evening to unwind after a crazy day? I recommend giving them a try!
- The sounds can be streamed or downloaded to your preferred device, thus they can be used at home or on the road.
- A wide variety of sounds are available for both babies and adults.
- The sounds are reasonably priced at $2.99 per sound or $5.99 for a Bundle Package that includes three sounds.
- The Fade Away Sleep Sounds website is easy to maneuver and use.
- You can sign up online at Fade Away Sleep Sounds website to receive a free download to try out.
- The owner of the company is very helpful. I haven’t had an issue that required technical support, but I’m guessing that if you need some assistance it will be in a timely fashion and from the friendly owner.
- The only thing I can think of is that you’ll need an extra device available to use in your baby’s nursery or room if you plan to use your phone or tablet while your baby is sleeping.
Overall, I recommend Fade Away Sleep Sounds to any mom or dad who wants to soothe their baby to sleep with background noise. A number of great sounds are available to choose from, they can easily be streamed or downloaded to your preferred device, and they are very reasonably priced. I encourage you to check them out and if anything, try streaming some sounds before purchasing to find the ones that work the best for you and your baby!
Disclosure: Fade Away Sleep Sounds gifted us some sounds to try, but all opinions are 100% my own.
