The phil&teds Traveller is the way to go if you are going to travel with your baby in tow. I have a Graco Pack ‘n Play which is great for home, but it’s definitely too bulky for long distance travel. My family travels a ton and I wanted to make sure that we had a convenient way to bring a crib along for our overnight trips. Specifically, I was looking for a travel crib that was lightweight and compact. Traveling with a baby is no simple task, and therefore I wanted to make sure that I found a crib that would be easy to transport and hassle free.
The phil&teds traveller met and even exceeded my expectations. The crib is super lightweight and only weights 7 pounds! You’ll thank me for recommending this crib the next time you’re lugging all of your other stuff through the airport. This traveller has an age range of newborn to 3 years old, so it can be used for quite some time. With this being said, I think it’s a stretch to think that my 2.5 year-old would be comfortable sleeping in this since he is pretty tall.
One of the most important things to me as a mom when purchasing products for my kids is safety. The Traveller is globally safety certified, so you can have peace of mind when you place your baby in this crib. The sides are constructed out of breathable mesh fabric that makes it easy to see your baby. The side is able to zip away, which makes it easier to get your baby out. This will save your back! The frame is made out of aluminum, so it’s very sturdy. You won’t have to worry about the crib falling apart while your baby is sleeping in it.(I have seen mention of babies standing up and tipping the crib over. I cannot comment on this, as this has not been our experience. My babies are typically asleep when placed in the crib and then are taken out when they wake up in the morning.) There is a self-expanding thermally insulated mattress that goes on the bottom of the traveller. I should mention that the traveller comes with a 100% cotton fitted sheet that can be placed over the mattress.
This crib can also be used outside as a playpen. I have the sun cover, which filters UV rays and keeps the bugs out. This can be attached to the crib with toggles, so no need to use a zipper. This can be purchased separately and will fit in the carry bag.
It took me just a few times to figure out how to put the crib together. Assembly is really quite easy once you get the hang of it. I recommend practicing a couple of times before you need to use it so that you’re proficient and comfortable assembling it after a long day of travel. When the crib is deconstructed the parts easily fit inside the carry bag that has a shoulder strap. The bag, when filled with all of the crib pieces, is small enough to fit in the overhead compartment on an airplane.
Overall, I think all of the travelers will be very happy with this purchase! The phil&teds Traveller has made our travel with little ones so much easier and is a must-have for all families on the go!
