The Skip Hop Clix Bento Mealtime 14-Piece Kit is great for moms on the go! When my son started eating solids I found that he often needed a snack while we were out running errands. He is a very picky eater and I usually need to pack him a meal when we go on outings or have a full day of air travel ahead of us. I had been using random tupperware containers until I found this little gem.
I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was when I found the Skip Hop Clix Bento Mealtime Kit. It’s so nice not having to carry around a huge, awkward insulated lunch bag that won’t fit inside my diaper bag or purse. This mealtime kit contains 6 brightly colored Clix containers and 6 removable lids. The lids are airtight, which helps keep the food fresh and prevents contents from spilling. Each lid has a tab, which facilitates easy opening. I have read other reviews where people say the lids are impossible to remove. I’m horrible at removing lids and have not found this to be an issue.
Mamas often want to make sure that the products they buy for their little ones are made out of safe materials. The containers are BPA-free, PVC-free, and Phthalate-free, so they are very safe for food storage. The Clix containers are super versatile, as they are freezer, microwave, and dishwasher safe (top rack only).
The really unique thing about the Clix containers is that they can be used separately or linked together. It’s great having the option to keep them linked together to form an on-the-go feeding set or separating to just one container to use as a snack cup.
The kit comes with an insulated cooler bag that is small and easy to transport. There is even an elastic handle on the bag that can be used to hold a water bottle or juice box. The cooler can easily be wiped clean if needed. If further cleaning is needed, Skip Hop recommends hand washing with cold water and drying flat. This mealtime kit even comes with a reusable gel freezer pack that is made to fit in the cooler bag. I should mention that if you’re traveling by air with this bag that you’ll want to make sure that the freezer pack is frozen when you go through security or they will confiscate it.
I have found that I can fit 3 Clix containers linked together inside the bag with the freezer pack, or if I want to fit more containers inside, I stack them individually and leave the freezer pack out. The bag was not designed to do this, but it totally works. I have been able to fit a maximum of 5 containers in the cooler bag, along with a spoon. On days when I take 3 containers I am able to fit both a spoon and a bib inside the bag.
As far as negative things go, the only thing I can think of is that this product is more expensive than your average meal kit. However, with this being said, I totally think it’s worth the extra cost!
Overall, this mealtime kit has made transporting meals and snacks so much easier and this is a product that we use all the time. I’m so glad that I made this purchase!
